Choosing a Gun Safe
Owning a gun offers a sense of security to many people. They feel that having a means to defend themselves is the best way to ensure the safety of their home and family members. They also recognize that gun ownership requires that they observe additional safety precautions in order to ensure that the gun is not mishandled or, worse, that it doesn’t end up in the wrong hands. The best way to do this is to purchase a gun safe.
There are different types of gun safes depending on the type and number of guns to be stored. Pistols go in pistol safes while rifles and other large firearms should be in a locked gun cabinet. Cabinets come in decorative designs that show off a gun collection, but the priority should be on the security rating of any safe or cabinet. Cabinets are also good for multiple guns, but there are also safes designed to hold several guns.
Other choices to be made when selecting a gun safe are the type of lock and the safe mounting. Locks are usually key or combination. Gun safes can sit on a table or shelf or be placed in a closet. They can also be embedded in a wall. Some safes have room to also store ammo , although some people believe that ammo should be stored away from the gun and purchase a separate locked box or safe for that.
